The Town of Vernon Fire Department is featuring Talcottville Company #3’s former apparatus courtesy of the John W. Turner Collection.
Company #3 operated this 1953 Ford / Maxim pumper out of their quarters until being replaced by a 1969 Mack CF-600 pumper built in Allentown Pennsylvania.
The 1969 Mack CF-600 had the distinction of being the only apparatus in town to be painted 3 different colors during its service life.
The apparatus was delivered painted white, then repainted into the experimental lime yellow paint scheme introduced in the 1970’s, and ended its career painted white over red. This apparatus was replaced in 1994 by a E-One Cyclone pumper, the twin to ET-441 in November, 1994. All photos courtesy of the John W. Turner Collection.
